I'm excited to share this fantastic coffee from Heart Roasters in Portland, the Kenya Gachuiro. I drink a lot of great coffee from a variety of roasters, and it's very rare that I will order a second bag of a coffee no matter how tasty it is as I like to always be trying new coffees as much as I can.
That being said, I am on my third bag of this coffee and continue to be impressed not only with how delicious it is every time I brew it, but also with how long the coffee lasts and continues to be tasty. I have drank this coffee 4-5 weeks after roast and even though some of the brighter notes have faded, the coffee is still delicious.
Here is the information on the coffee according to Heart Roasters:
Elevation: 1700 MASL
Varieties, Ruiru 11, SL-28 & SL-34 (AA)
Process: Fully Washed
Harvest: December 2015- February 2016
As you can see I brewed this coffee on the Aeropress, but I have also brewed it with a Stainless pour-over device (no paper filter required)
The coffee is advertised as having notes of Panela, Redcurrant, and Watermelon Hard Candy. The combination of juicy berry (redcurrant) and sweet watermelon along with the sugary notes (panela) make for a fantastic and enjoyable cup.
